We have a report from Werner in Singapore.
Congratulations on your first catch with slow pitch jigging!
Size doesn’t matter at all when you plan, prepare, act, and hit it. From all the choices you have taken, what you chose has worked. It’s a great feeling when YOU hit the fish, not the FISH hit you!

Dear Totos San,

Since the last time we contacted, I have got my slow jigging tackle set-up. I am currently using a HOT’S Slow Style 63H and a Shimano Ocea Jigger 1500HG with YGKPE3 line. Reason for using such a thick line is because here in Singapore we have many underwater structure and we target mainly groupers. So we tend to use heavier line on very tight drag to muscle in the fish on first contact to prevent it from going into the structure.

Anyway, just wanted to share with you that I have managed to catch my first two fishes on slow pitch jigging during a trip last weekend in Singapore waters.

I was jigging in about 40m of water throughout the day, and current was moderate. One was a small grouper that contacted while my jig was falling after a few lifts off the bottom.

The other was a small GT that took my jig midwater while I was dancing the jig through the entire water column. I am quite happy and really want to thank you for the guidance and ideas you imparted here on email and via your website. Without which, I would never have caught that GT which is not easy to get in Singapore. Have attached the picture for your viewing.

Cheers
