The Japanese name, Bara Hata, means rose cod. It’s a beautiful red fish with fins trimmed in yellow.
It’s a pretty common catch in our local water.
Very delicious fish. Juicy and silky meat promises that it’s excellent in any cooking style. The meat stays intact in heating, but melts on your tongue.
But there have been reports of ciguatera poisoning. If you want to be careful, you should release it.
I don’t mind personally. It’s too good to taste.
