Hi Totos,
First I would like to thank you for all the information giving to me as well as a lot of other anglers.
All that I read from you site and the answers to my mails help to make a good start on that technic, slow jigging.
I am testing that technic for the last 2 months and the results is better than i could imagine.
I start at not very deep water, about 30-40 meters just to find the “rhythm” with reactor and spunky both 150gr. I was giving a 1/3 or 1/2 slow pitch move with a small tension with my rod.
Even that I was just trying to see how this works I had my fist contacts!!!!!!!
Small groupers, snappers and amberjacks was the first catch.
I was fully surprised, I did not expect to catch any fish at all at this depth. Friends I have, also anglers told me that was really difficult, almost impossible to get even bites at this depths (30-40m).
But slow jig has just started ……
The rod, major craft, even that is not the best, for me is a good choice to start.
I would love to had a chance to try more rods but is not that easy.
I think that in deeper water under the 60 meters with jigs from 150 to 180 will work perfect. ( I will try this soon )
In high pitch I think I would like to test a jig about 210gr.
Seafloor control jigs working really good and I am waiting for the next delivery ☺
Also really good is Damiki Suplex and Xesta.
I also used for hooks the VMC assist jig hooks 3/0. The only problem with that jigs is that soon get rusty and I am looking for another brand to replace them. The size did not give me any prob, I did not loose any byte with out hooking. As about the weight, if was a little bit lighter will be better.
On the way I use to tight the hooks after reading on your site that “less metal better for the jig action” I use my own way with one hook and in would like also your opinion on this.
The reel shimano torium 14 is “value 4 money”. With a retrieve 100/107 cm and max breaks 5,5 klgr and 6.2:1 I can suggest it to anyone who can give about 120 euros for a good not the best reel.
Finally, I think that I just start slow jig and I would love to go one step more.
All that thanks to Totos!!!!

Hi Aristotelis. I’m so glad that you got your slow pitch game up and running. You have studied the game very hard and I’m very happy to see all your efforts have been paid off.
Yes, you are right. It’s just starting! Keep it going!
